Throughout the entire process when I first interviewed with them over a year ago right up through coming home, ELIC showed they truly cared about me and about other people. I really appreciated that.

We found our neighborhood to be so welcoming, and our host school took it further, really rolling out the red carpet for our family. In addition to settling us well, they helped us celebrate local holidays, took us on excursions, and made so many wonderful memories possible. They worked in tandem with ELIC to make sure we were happy. In the end, the local administrators were some of the hardest friends to say goodbye to.

ELIC provided great training in teaching, culture, and team life while I was overseas, and I can see the benefit even more clearly as an alumnus. The impact of this experience has been foundational to skills for my career and personal life. ELIC not only helped me to thrive in a foreign country, but also to build life-long friendships, problem-solve in the challenges of cross-cultural living, and grow through intentionally working as a team to accomplish a goal. The summers I spent with ELIC have become some of the most pivotal experiences in my life. I formed bonds with my teammates that I never expected. There is something about being in a foreign county with a group of people who have the same goals that simply unites you and you become like a family. And because ELIC took care of all the details like insurance, flights, help with visas, etc, I could spend my energy on building lasting relationships with the students. I still keep in touch with many of them today! I went into it intending to impact others' lives and walked out completely changed myself.
